For anyone who is in Australia, AMEX has recently turned into a real money maker, with new offers every week or two.
A partial list of credits from the last three months:

Small Business November - $50
David Jones Spend Credit - $50
Country Road Spend Credit - $30
Liqourland Spend Credit - $20
Target Spend Credit - $10

Multiply that by ten (just two accounts, with four AU's each), and that is $1,600!

Most of the above stores sell gift cards to other stores (such as Coles-Myers group), so you don't need to actually buy anything in that store.

Also, true data point - AMEX is very precise with their wording when they write in the T&C's:
"Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned or cancelled."

yep they are really quite good, i did the Liqourland credit
unfortunately i never got to do the other ones
but now i keep on eye on each promotion they run
