I used one. It's very noisy.
Scotty Kilmer says to keep the stock coil and just swap out the strut.
I believe you can borrow a tool for that from auto parts stores.
I installed a Gabriel shock and strut and it's quiet.

Can you link the video where Scotty says it's noisy?

On a side note, the coil was rusted out and needed to be replaced, + the tool that I borrowed from AutoZone wouldn't fit my springs + it's "a danger" to use a spring compressor.

I never claimed Scotty said anything about Gabriel shocks. He mentioned keeping the original coils and swapping out only the struts.

Btw, the Gabriel shock/strut assembly that I installed is not really that noisy, but since I expected it to be quiet, when it made noises, I considered it loud. Car has since been sold.

Mine does not make any noises.

My splash guard under the car was damaged and the mechanic took it off so it wouldn't hang down. Any reason to replace? Is it important for the protection of parts?

Anyone has experience with a Firestone lifetime alignment?

I was quoted $200 for a lifetime alignment on my car.

Have a leaking valve stem. There are some videos online for changing the stem without removing the tire, but has anyone here done this? I'm wondering if it's simple enough for a moderately handy non-gibor.

When I brake hard, my brakes don't release fully until I shut the car for a while. Frozen caliper? something else?

stuck piston? Are you hearing/feeling scraping? Sometimes when your metal on metal it happens. New pads /rotors can  solve the issue

it's there for a reason. Obviously nothing immediate catastrophic is likely to happen but over time more prone to rust, road salt, etc.
Why didn't he just out the clip back in?

he claims it was to damaged to fix so just took it off and told me I don't really need it

What about the caliper guide bolt? Sometimes that can seize, just needs to be wiped clean and add a bit of silicone

Thanks. It happens randomly and then frees up if I leave the car off for a while. I guess I have to wait for it to happen again to see? Or not?

You do not have to wait. If you're willing to take the wheel off ot's extremely easy to pull on the guide bolts and feel for stickyness
