OK thanks gonna do this..
Around the door handle and window and lock controls you may have to pop out additional clips. Not a big deal just take it slow and look for where the actual clip is and pull from that area.
The whole control piece with all the switches may pop out as one piece. Not sure about your car, but 06 impala should be fairly easy if you don't have 2 left hands

06 impala. Speakers in the front doors work only once every two weeks and never during/after rain.
Desperately need to fix this or install alternative speakers for cheap.

Obviously rain is getting in from somewhere....

and shorting the wires or ruining the actual speaker? Should I bother opening the door panel?

It can't hurt to open up the panel and take a look if u have the proper tools...

It's a simple job... the first time I opened up the panel of my car door I was afraid too

But since then I've done much bigger jobs on my car and saved a nice amount of $ B"H

The internet has it all, so if u have some free time I would say go for it

This seems to be a common issue when all of the speakers dont work. Water leaking from under the windshield and pooling behind the passenger seat and causing the speaker wires to short.

My question is whether it makes sense that the problem I am having, with only the front speakers can be attributed to the same set of wires behind the passenger seat leading to the rear speakers?

OKAY. I just finished removing door panels, radio, checked seal under windshield, lifted carpet behind passenger seat etc.
All connections, wires and speakers look dry, uncorroded and in good condition.  >:(

Why do my speakers not work after the rain??  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Can someone recommend the best professional who could quickly diagnose and fix this?
(Not some "mechanic" who will charge me big $$$ to tear apart the entire car looking for a loose wire)

Check out this forum post. Makes sense that it isn't the doors themselves since it is unlikely that both doors are leaking at the same exact time. Likely wiring in another location getting wet or as someone mentioned a common grounding point.

Here is another good post which points to an orange wire going to the factory amp in the trunk as the culprit: http://m.topix.com/forum/autos/chevrolet-impala/TNAM1V7U6HQBSOKHC

Do you have a sunroof by any chance?

I have the same car and the front left speaker stopped working completely, I ordered a replacement on ebay and followed the video to remove door panel and it works great.

Not of much help since your issue seems to be with the wiring but just wanted to share..

I checked all wires everywhere.. Looks like the speakers themselves are bad. I bought replacements.. Now I need to install them when I get a chance...

Anyone know where the cheapest place for a window motor and regulator replacement? I'm looking for part number 741-637 . It's for a 2000 Buick century. The cheapest I found is $31.85 on ebay.
If anyone knows of any cheaper places or if there's a difference in quality from different company's please let me know. Because the last one I bought on ebay only lasted me 4 months.

I found the same thing with mine it was in horrible condition, and the replacement I got on ebay was Bose. Works great now
