You will receive a reward of 6% on the first $6,000 of eligible purchases in an annual reward year at supermarkets located in the U.S. (superstores and warehouse clubs are not considered supermarkets); 3% on eligible purchases of gasoline at gas stations located in the U.S. (superstores, supermarkets and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline are not considered gas stations); 3% on eligible purchases at select department stores located in the U.S. (the current list of select major department stores at which you can get a 3% reward is available at americanexpress.com/rewards-info ); and 1% on all other eligible purchases (and on supermarket shopping beyond $6,000).

The annual reward year referred to in the previous paragraph is 12 billing periods in a row beginning with the one that includes January 1st; if your billing cycle changes, the length of your annual reward year will also change.

Effective June 30, 2017, the "annual reward year" will be a calendar year:

What is the best way to maximize the CB benefit?

Merchandise is overpriced and GCs are often more expensive than face value.  Is there anything other than redeeming for a statement credit?

Why would you want any thing else? There's other cards for miles and points.

This entire forum is about things/ways/techniques/tricks/chaps we don't know about.  I was wondering if there were a way to redeem  more than $1 per $1 earned.

Well, in that case, use the card at a grocery store that gives fuel perks. :) (Sorry if this was already mentioned. I didn't go back and check the posts).

Thanks for answering.  I mean once the purchases are made and the cash is sitting in the account ready to be redeemed.  Is the best way just as a statement credit?

Anyone else get the 3% +3% offer on the regular Amex Blue Cash card for supermarkets until 12/31/16. The disclosures don't seem to say that the additional 3% is capped only that the offer is loaded on the primary card.

Just bumping this thread, as a reminder that the 6k cycle restarts at the end of the calendar year.

That was not entirely accurate when you wrote it, but will be after June 30, 2017, when they will change the terms. See the wiki, which I just updated.

I have not been there in a while but from what I remember NPGS (all) and Shloimys kosher world do code as grocery, and Kosher West does NOT.

Anybody know if upgrade from non-preferred to preferred run a credit pull at all? (upgrade is being offered with $250 bonus)
Also can I downgrade back to non-preferred sometime throughout the year or will I have to reapply for that?

This earns cashback I'd assume?
Hence, if one has this ABCP on his account with 29,000 MR, anything to do with the MR?
Add a free card(No AF) that earns MR? Will that allow to transfer to airlines?
Or is it like chase which allows only AF cards to transfer to airlines and amongst accounts?
