Permanent polished silver
« on: January 31, 2014, 01:49:48 PM »
I once heard that there are places that treat silver so it never has to be polished. Has anyone ever heard of this? I can't seem to find out where to get it done.

Yes. It's an invisible layer covering the silver.

My candlesticks came with it. The guy told us to never polish it. It looks fine.

It will eventually tarnish under it and then you will need to spend a lot of money to remove the lacquer to get it nice again. A good quality polish should last a while. We have been happy with Haggerty silversmiths polish more than others in their line

Silver-store told me not to do it on my candlesticks as it takes away from the shine.

To me, it takes away from the look of old silver. But it's ok.

Had my candlesticks lacquered over three years ago and they never looked better

Well if you're like us and you don't always have time to polish them they aren't shiny either way
