Yeah. I don't want anything bigger than my s3 that I had to get used to holding.

They just should make the mini versions with the same specs.

That has become a huge deal-breaker for me. I swap my s3 battery every day.
No matter how good battery life might become, no battery can use intense use for a whole day.

But why would they ever do away with the removable battery? To me it would seem like a dumb decision - it is one of the most important and popular distinctions from iPhone.

Same reason everyone else has. To make prettier more solid feeling phones that have a built in expiration date.

I didn't read the leaks. Are they doing away with it?
I was planning on buying one.

No way will it be smaller than the S4.
I thought the S4 would be too big but got used to it very quickly. Now my old gnex looks like a toy screen.

You might have gotten used to it, but it still looks silly to me and doesn't fit in my smaller jacket pockets. I remember back in the days of the Palm Pre versus HTC EVO, the Pre was easily removed from my pocket while driving, however the EVO required a bit of fidgeting around to extract. Say what you will about the build quality of the Pre, but that thing really fit in your hand and was a pleasure to hold while talking. (and you may recall, I did NOT share your affinity for Palm products at all- so this is a big deal for me to admit)

I went into a Sprint store last week and held an LG G2 to my head, and my wife almost double over laughing. At some point, the phone owns you more than vice versa, and I don't WANT to get used to that! :)

HTC did it with their One X line, others have as well. I'm not sure what the reason is- I keep hearing that a sealed battery keeps its life better, but that makes exactly zero sense to me scientifically. The batteries used are the same chemically, they are just buried under a lot of screws for no apparent reason.

When you have an embedded battery you also have the potential for a bigger battery. Though lately even those with embedded batteries aren't necessarily making them bigger. But that was def one of the reasons when they started to make them like that.

It also makes for a more solid device, that's for sure.

I'm not sure about that. I don't think I've ever seen an internal battery that was actually bigger than an external one.
The S3 has a bigger battery than the One X, and the One X is internal - devices are the same generation. The One X does have a cool metal framed back which improves build quality... but the Sprint version introduced a removable door to house a memory card while still keeping the build quality. It seems it would not have been difficult to do the same for the battery door, but HTC decided to keep it internal. I'm leaning more towards the planned obsolescence, which is why I believe Apple does it. But I don't know for certain.

It's a 3000mah battery in there, which they can fit because the device is actually tall and wide enough to support a power cell of that size. The Note series also has killer battery life (although I think LG did a better job).
But what's that got to do with sealed vs not?

Before this image leaked, I think same-song (Samsung) is making a big mistake by giving out a phone that looks the same as the Galaxy S4, what do u think?

Water-Resistant. There is a difference there.

"The back is made out of a rubbery, textured plastic. It snaps off so you can swap out the battery or add more storage with an SD card."

But it's really a S4s which was actually a s3s. So it's a s3ss.
The S3 was the only one that was really groundbreaking. This is very good, but it's a s3 with many things faster.

I find the rubber backs tend to feel a LOT better in the hand. Finally got rid of that slippery plastic.
