Resurrecting an old inkjet printer
« on: January 31, 2014, 06:40:44 AM »
I have a really old HP Deskjet 3840 printer lying around that has (literally) not been used in years, as it was retired when I got my Brother printer/scanner/fax. I'm thinking of setting it up again, this time in my office (as the other printer has to stay at home). But I recall reading somewhere that inkjet printers get really messed up when left dormant for a long time, as residual ink dries up and screws everything up. Is that true? And if yes, is it easily fixable?

For all the naysayers out there who want to answer "why are you posting? Just try it out and see!", it's quite simple: that would involve buying new ink cartridges, which don't come cheap in Israel (or are a pain to get from America). So before I invest in this, I would like to know if I at least have a decent shot of it working out.

Thanks!
