Our newborn needs a US passport quickly!

My wife just gave birth, and we have tickets from TLV to JFK on Nov 11 (that's in 17 days) We are dual American-Israeli citizens, and we need to get Israeli passports and US passports before we go. The standard way to get a US passport is to make an appointment online (which we did, but my wife was way overdue. Our appointment came and went while my wife was still in the hospital). The next available appointment is on Nov 4th. It usually takes about 3 weeks to get the passport from the day you apply. Some ppl mentioned to me that we may be able to get a US visa instead of a US passport for our princess. Anybody have any advice or know anybody I can call to expedite this?

i had the same problem recently, make a appointment in tel aviv as their is usually more avialability there. the embassy called me exactly a week later that my babies passport arrived.

remember to go to the misrad hapnim first and speak to yakov room 208 for the official birth certifacate, when i went there was no line to speak to him. it should only take 20mins.
there is parking directly opposite the embassy.
the fee in the embassy is $205 for the passport and report of birth.
you could try telling them that you would like to go to the states as you would like to have your wife checked by your obgyn at home, either becouse there was complications or there was not its not their business! hoping they will give you an emergency passport. the lady there offered it to me, but i still had enough time before my flight to apply for a regular passport.
