Evolve Money – Online billpay service

Pay bills from Evolve’s list of payees, including mortgage, utilities, insurance and “store” credit card, e.g., Macy’s, Gap, Walmart (but NOT regular credit cards or store co-branded CC, like a Walmart Discover or BR Visa).

If a particular biller is not listed, you can try emailing Evolve to add it. They seem to respond quite quickly to inquiries, and they will ask you to send a copy of your bill. Some people have had success in seeing their billers added. The billers need to agree to be a part of some kind of Mastercard processing consortium, which may or may not work for you billers.

Daily dollar limits include:

$2,999.00 in payments, of which up to $999.00 may be funded by cash load packs
Individual bill pay dollar limits include:

$2,999.00 for a single bill funded by a debit card and/or credit card
$999.00 for a single bill funded by a cash load pack
Note: You cannot make more than $10,000 worth of payments per month for credit, debit, and cash load packs.

Monthly payment limits include:

4 payments per month per biller account number using a credit or debit card within the dollar limits listed above.
Unlimited number of payments per month per biller account number using a cash load pack within the dollar limits listed above.

Check with your bank whether they accept partial payments and payments made over a couple of days. (Paying over weekend might arrive on same day.) You will also want to be in touch with your bank the first month you do this to make sure that the payments don't automatically apply to principal, or that your automatic payment (if you have one) doesn't ALSO get taken out. Don't assume that your bank will handle everything perfectly without your involvement, and - especially the first month - make sure you have all payments in with a few days to spare at least so that they can sort it out without also having to worry that the payment will be late.

You can pay bills for no fee with REloadIt packs that can be purchased, Evolve Money credits and with a debit card from "major banks". There are reports that US Bank issued MGCs work fee free as well. Each card counts as one payment toward the four payment limit.

For a 3% fee you can pay with a Visa, MC and Discover CCs.

In the past there was a glitch and certain CCs did work. But after this was publicized, the glitch was closed.

How
Sign up.
Add new bill.
Then pay with a ReLoadit packs, debit, prepaid(?) or Gift Card(?).

Can't believe there is no post here yet about the email they just sent out notifying that CC payments will now incur a 3% fee.
(Unless anyone still has a MasterCard that registered as a DC back in the good ole days - my arrival + continued to work till I had to shut it down due to fraud. New one won't link :( )

No one was using cc -- at least that they knew of. They are talking about discover, which was of limited benefit. So this really doesn't affect anyone, especially since they limited in the middle of Dec. what payments can be made with it-- basically only small ones.

You can make only one payment per month per payee. That means if you pay a payee in February, you have to wait until March to pay the same payee again, but you can still make payments to other payees during February.

Actually,  they change the rules again. I have not read the new T&C myself,  but from what I read on flyertalk,  certain billers can be paid twice per month.  But no financial institutions,  so of limited value

I've been able to do 2 payments in a month now with my property tax bill, my water bill, and my utility (gas/electric) bill - but not my auto lease bill.

It's an easy way to liquidate those gift cards. Be aware that there are some payees that reject the payment if you overpay.

Which store cc work best for pre payments (ie allow you to actually over pay and refund you afterwards)?

The new User Agreement shows the following:

Quote
V. RESTRICTED ACTIVITIES, ACCOUNT SUSPENSION & CLOSURE

Restricted Activities
In connection with your use of our Service, your Account, or in the course of your interactions with us, other users, or third parties, you will not:
...
m. Using the Service to send funds are not intended as a bill payment and withdrawing such funds at a later time from the designated Biller
I'm not sure if this was in the previous version, but it does seem like a hasty addition, considering how grammatically incorrect it is.

It was in a recent update, but I don't think it said it was grounds for suspension.
There are some other semantic changes which point to some further devolving-see what they say about fees.

I paid 1K to con ed last summer. I'm glad I never asked them to send me the excess. I just use the excess to pay each months bill. I paid the 1K because at that time you were able to use cc as dc.

Yup that stinks...
Beginning next week, certain debit cards from smaller banks, as well as prepaid debit cards and gift cards will be subject to a 3 percent Bill Pay Fee on each payment.

This Bill Pay Fee will be waived for most major debit cards, cash load packs and Evolve Money credits. You can continue to use these payment methods free-of-charge
