Parking Ticket
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:28:04 PM »
I got a parking ticket in LA for parking in a Red Zone. My wife was in the passenger seat and offered to move, but the cop ignored her and gave the $93 ticket. It was a Hertz Rental.

Is there a any worthwhile way to fight it without being in LA? Could I get away w/o paying it since it was on a rental?
My office buzzes to the JewishMusicStream!!!

Definitely contact hertz and let them know you are dealing with it or hertz may charge you a fee to have the ticket forwarded to you (they do have your contact info from the contract). That happened to me once in California with a different car rental company.

I got a Muni Meter ticket but had the receipt. I uploaded it online, as I have done before, but it seems they didn't get it. >:(
I just got a 'guilty' ruling.

New York City parking question, can I buy a Muni meter ticket, a mile away? Or do I have to run back and pay at the meter on the street

you can buy a ticket, park, move your car to any other borough, and park again, assuming there is still time left

Appeal. resubmit. I hope you have a copy of the receipt.  (Do you have a proof you mailed it before?  You may not need any.  )

I got a parking ticket at a muni meter when I ran into the store for 1 minute I bought a munimeter ticket as soon as I saw it 4 minutes later
isnt there a rule that you have 5 minutes to get one before they can give you a ticket?
how should I fight this?

Are you aure about that? I dont think you can use any ticket (especially when fighting a ticket). I believe it most match the meter number.

Send in the muni meter receipt with the ticket.  No words necessary.  Keep a copy of the receipt.

I'm not sure about the rules but you can definitely say that the cop gave you the ticket while you were at the machine getting your meter ticket,
I did it once (was less then 4 min though) and I won.

Any receipt is good anywhere. (except  if the new spot has a higher meter rate.)

The law gives you 5 min, so buying the muni meter receipt within 5 min of the ticket is legit.

does anyone know where I can find the law so I can reference it in my case

again, it belongs on the ethics thread, but if you are ok convincing yourself of that, go right ahead
i dont think for a second you would call up NY and ask if that is legit and get a "yes" answer
the 5 minutes are meant if you are a block away at a machine and you come back to see a ticket. not meant to cheat the system. if you are jewish, stand behind jewish standards

Just mail in the receipt with the ticket.  NO need to write anything at all.  They will dismiss it.
