Shoe dye/polish
« on: February 05, 2014, 04:17:29 PM »
I have found pair of shoes that I like alot at a ridiculously low price, the only problem is-that its Brown and I want black. Does anyone have knowledge or experience in permanent dyes or polishes?

A good shoe repair guy should be able to dye leather shoes for you. One thing you should keep in mind though, i don't think soles can be dyed.

+1, dont do it... its a matter of time until it'll turn brown again, probably at the worst time also.  :D

I bought a brown pair of shoes and dyed it black. It looked good enough. Although it still had a slight shade of brown. (Can't notice unless you look very closely) I got them dyed at a shoe repair the total I think was $20. Although I don't think they really dyed it. To properly dye it I think they may charge u Much more.

Just spoke to my brother. He did this with a pair of brown Ferragamos he got for a ridiculously low price. The shoe repair charged $20 for dying. In the beginning they looked perfect, as if they were always black(see and disregard my earlier post), but now they're fading after moderate use. Doesn't sound like it's worth it.

I got a pair of shoes which ended up being blue. I never dyed them and most people don't even notice.

Agree.  I have a pair of midnight blue shoes that appears black unless I point it out to someone.
