Verizon Wireless Internet
« on: July 23, 2008, 08:49:46 PM »
Someone told me that I could buy wireless internet for my laptop for a daily rate of $15 a day (I know that is not a good price but I only need it for one day). I've spoken to quite a few reps, some who know about it but say I'm talking to the wrong person, and some who have never heard about it. Does anyone know more info about this?

I am not so comfortable doing that, I don't mind paying the $15, I just don't know how.

Ye that's about $200-300, basically if you had one you can then sign up without a contract, so you wont be doing anything wrong by canceling. So now the only thing that you can really do is sign up and cancel, unless some-1 else knows something else.

I had the same problem i wanted to sign up for 2 weeks but i would of had to buy a card which made it not worth it, so i singed up and canceled i just paid for wtvr i used (prorated).

depending on your phone, you can use it as a modem tethered via usb cable to your laptop (or bluetooth, etc), and use that instead of a laptop card.

You'd need to add Verizon's data plan to your phone along with the tethering option (they'll know what this is).

actually, for just a day of use, I think you can just DO it, and they'll charge you per kb. Its expensive, but if you don't want to add/cancel for a day of unlimited use, that's probably your only option.

What's the big deal about adding it and dropping it a day later? They usualyl pro-rate the charge per day.

When I purchased my dell laptop with a built-in Verizon card, there was an option to purchase internet for 24 hours, for $15. Verizon doesn't really know about it, it's sort of a thing that you do through the software. I think it may have been a special Dell-Verizon deal. I don't know if it's still available and I don't know how you can get it again, but going through Dell should be the first place you look.
