6,400 Starpoints for a $300 flight?
Where exactly is the "so little value"
i was going with the 8000 option which would give him 2.65 cents value per point. not too great

How are you calculating 2.65?

I agree

I would surely use 7k in pts if the room was going for $300, so why not a flight. and forme its alot easier to earn back teh 6400 pts then 17500 miles
so would i as youre getting over 4 cents value per point

How are you calculating 2.65?
ticket is $278, miles earned if ticket bought, 700-1000, lets assume $11, so for our purposes, ticket costs $267. taxes on mileage ticket = $54, so $213/8000 = 2.6625 cents

AA has it for 17,500 miles+$54 in tax if you are a Citi cardholder.
LAN will book you on AA for 16,000 kilometers+$54, which is 6,400-8,000 Starpoints depending on how many Starpoints you transfer.
how are you getting lan for so cheap im looking for NYC to YTO from jan 6 - 9

dan, seriously, would that be a smart usage of starpoints? so little value......
i was going with the 8000 option which would give him 2.65 cents value per point. not too great
Why is 2.65 not a good value?  I would redeem 7k points on a $185 room.
If you would be willing to sell SPG at that rate then why is it not worth redeeming at that rate?
It's not a great value, but I disagree with you and say that it is a good value.

Anyway if someone does NYC-YYZ or other short-hauls like YUL, etc with any frequency it will be 6,400 Starpoints which using your calculation would give a value of 3.33 cpp, which is very good.

Of course the point is moot as the OP is neither leaving from NYC nor has any Starpoints.

1)LAN (Oneworld partner=fly AA), their mileage chart is distanced based so less miles require.
20k spg convert to 50k LAN.
2) Yes.

Looking for flights NYC-YYZ for pesach. The TAM fights are terrible timing for us and AA has nothing (and hasn't had for weeks already). Is United saver space my next best option?

I don't have the time to drive to phl or buf. I found $200 tickets but want to make sure it's worth paying and there isn't an award option less than 20K + $50

At that price, unless there are Avios tickets, you're best bet is revenue tickets.
Depending on your exact dates, there are some air Canada tickets for $170

Ok thanks that's what I thought. I've always been able to use Avios so never to had to think of alternative awards.

I saw those AC flights but they're not that cheap for my dates (4/2 at night and 4/6 early morn). At $200 I can't complain though
