oh wow just saw this and I'm insulted. I actually spoke to him tonight about it and he told me there are two parts to this issur; 1) something that had no significance hence the word חק meaning it makes no sense, which an act if showing love is not included 2) something that is tied directly to one of the ג חמורות which he said I have to look more in to the source of VD to know if this is included.
So is it mutar or not?
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

I got that freebie in the mail, too (as their Valentine's gift from SW)! Anything kosher in the air on SW besides the beer?

May work on the vitamin waters?

Yes, I see that it does include the Vitamin Waters -- thanks!
Also wondering which alcoholic beverages would be Kosher?
I see Jack Daniels, FinlandiaŽ Vodka, and Bacardi Rum listed here.  So, with some free cranberry juice and OJ, we can whip up a kosher Sea Breeze:

I apologize. That was uncalled for. I am pretty sure that it is very clear that the source of VD is tied directly to the feast of saint valentine.

its not about the source of VD as much as the source of giving love-themed gifts on that day
ETA: From Wikipedia
Quote
The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). Valentine's Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.[6]
Hence it is mutar since the expressions of love has nothing to do with the saint

Many stories on how this started. There is one where Bishop Valentine was burned at the stake the same as the Count. Ironic?

Valentine's Day everyday.
This is the typical frummy response to Valentines day, Mothers day, Fathers day, Thanksgiving, Remembrance day etc. etc... "By us we do Kibud Av every day...". I just wonder why you wouldn't apply the same logic to Simchas Torah and Pesach. We remember our deliverance from Egypt every day, twice in Shema, but we still celebrate one day a year where the whole day is dedicated for that purpose.

My thought is any day in which we're "reminded" to tell others how much we care about them and how important they are to us is great.

Birthdays, Anniversaries, VD, Thanks giving, Mothers day etc etc.
If it's going to help you take a moment and appreciate your loved ones then why in the world not!

Probably just a mistake of my very limited understanding of Judaism. I thought all present at Mt Sinai were converted to Judaism.

-1. Terrible point actually. The reality is that we have a chiyuv of kibbud av v'eim, we have chiyuvim pertaining to the happiness and well-being of our wives, and yet the Torah did not specify special days highlighting those chiyuvim.
