Anyone have experience dealing with a huge wasp nest?
When spraying it do they die instantly or do they hang around all mad for the rest of the day?
Also does it matter if I can't reach the actual nest to knock it down after, it's very high up?
Google says there could be thousands in there!

All I know is that the best time of day to spray is at dusk when they're sleepy...
There are sprays that can reach like 20 feet away so you can spray from far away.

+1 about both. The regular sprays kill them more or less instantly

Oy vey, I'm frightened of bees so I'm cringing for you. How large is it? For several succoses, wasps built a nest larger than a beachball outside my parents' house. My father burned it down each year. I think my the third year the wasps in the area knew not to mess. There were definitely thousands of them, in addition to several thousand eggs.

Ask one of the supers from one of the apt buildings in lakewood to do it. Give him 30 bucks.

A few bites might do you good. 
Put a garbage bag around it and take it down.

As a kid I used to love getting rid of these nests. Make sure u aren't directly under the nest as they will fall like spoiled crab apples. Just keep on spraying as more and more will fly out of the nest they'll attack the stream of raid which will instantly kill them. It doesn't matter if there more inside as they will be dead. You must know down the nest, otherwise there's a big chance of other wasps taking it over, knock it down with a broom and have someone with raid just in case more fly out...

Just noticed that our fat huge ugly ground hog had made another hole. I angrily shoved a plastic stake into it....
Turns out there was a yellow jacket nest in there! They came out and stung me.. Now they real mad. I should just stay indoors
