It seems as of April, you will be able to use your foreign license for up to a year after entry but only if you were out of the country for 3 consecutive months.

And if I am already here for a year does that mean I need to get a license in April? Or I have a year from then?

Yes, but no written test and only one lesson.

Besides just one lesson and driving test, what does getting a license entail?

Cost?
If I basically have no hebrew, options?

Just wondering but most likely won't get one anyways.

Do you have The Newcomer's Guide? They have it all spelled out.
I think Nefesh B'Nefesh too.

Are rental companies gonna stop renting to foreigners that have a visa over a year old?
That would suck and cause huge problems

When we moved here, we found an instructor who gives you a lesson on the way to the test, so you can take care of both of them in one shot.
The lesson is 20 minutes top.

that wouldnt be wise for someone driving for a while, who has deep rooted bad habits

Of course. If you're a bad driver, you shouldn't be driving at all.

Has there been any other source besides for a tabloid corroborating this law?
