Missed DL flight

GV, so a friend of mine missed his DL 9:15 flight to TLV, what are his best options now? He is DL Silver if it helps.

Try going to the airport they may just put you on the next flight...say traffic or make up some good reason.

Was at the airport, no direct flights tonight....

My question is if Standby is my best option? Or is there anyway to call in to get me confirmed?

I skipped the departure leg of a ticket, but I just got an email to check in for the return. Is it just an automatic email, or would I actually be able to take the flight?
