 Smoking is a known risk factor in oral SCC. (Try google-ing oral squamous cell carcinoma this time.) It’s compounded when alcohol is introduced. Your attempted "proof" to the contrary is laughable. First off, the list is not necessarily all-inclusive. Second, and more importantly, it is talking about SCC of the skin. So unless people start smoking through their skin, that website is irrelevant.

Unfortunately for my patient that's not true. He skipped his six month checkup so it was caught 6 months later than that.  Perhaps if he came earlier he could have had a relatively simple excision. By the time of surgery it was already in nervous tissue and once that happened he needed much more aggressive surgery and radiation.

Indeed, I believe skin cancer is the only cancer that is cannot be cause by smoking.

My patient just got back from having half his tongue removed and 6 weeks of intense radiation therapy due to squamous cell carcinoma. Results are not so pretty.

I never got it- why do we tell teens "smoking isn't cool", this equation goes thru a kids head: cool kids do it + I wanna be cool=smoker. I smoked as s bochur until my RY (whom had cancer on his lip from smoking) called me over and told me to "stop because smoking kills and I love you, Yes you'll be a talmid chacham but imagine the ads in the yated that there gonna write about your family collecting money for almono and yesoimim.
