Car Adapters
« on: February 24, 2014, 02:51:32 PM »
Is there such a thing as a battery powered device that a car plug can be plugged into it?
I want that for my dashcam, so it can run even when the car is off, without killing the car battery.

That crossed my mind.. Like keep that on the passenger seat every night, and plug it in...
Im surprised they don't make something small with a few batteries that has female lighter socket.

Battery boosters are pretty big and need to be constantly charged as they drain rather quickly. To charge them usually requires a cuple of hours IME.

Sorry, meant to be a joke.
A deep cycle battery is meant to be drained down and charged on a regular basis (as opposed to a car battery, which is really only used to start a car...while the car is running, the alternator (getting energy from the motor) provides all electricity.)

Boats ans RV's are two examples.  You use electricity even when the engine is not on.
