I feel stupid  ;) but I don't know what you mean by Amazon balance.
I don't have an Amazon credit card. Do you mean I should buy an Amazon GC and that can then be reloaded in any manner (with my pre-paid GC's)? Thanks

when i print my order report on amazon is there any way of telling how much of a order was paid with a gift card and how much was charged to the credit card(all i see is Gift Certificate/Card and American Express - xxxx)?

does it have anything to do with the fact that sometimes it says "Gift Certificate/Card and American Express - xxxx" and some times "American Express - xxxx and Gift Certificate/Card" ? (and if not does anybody knews what it means?)

Under your order total, it should say how much was paid via Gift card

in my experience even when it was all paid by gc it still says either

"Gift Certificate/Card and American Express - xxxx"  or

Perhaps because your American Express account is linked to your Amazon account?

If I cancel an order that had a promo applied, any chance the promo credit would come back alive?

 Meaning a credit, not an amazon amex promo, meaning a credit that was applied to my account?
