@kolhaolam LONDON: Amazon banned a customer, claiming he returned too many items. He returned 37 items out of 343 purchased.

For some people, yes.

You're like the 5th person I saw quoting this KH tweet.
It's one report about one buyer out of hundreds of millions of buyers.

And it's not even something that hasn't happened before.

Unless there's a sudden wave of shutdowns there's really nothing to discuss.

I know many people who just buy away, even if they're not sure whether they need those items, and then they return 60-70% of what they bought. Many times they can buy the same item in a few sizes and/or colors and then return all except for one, rather than doing basic research as to which size they actually need. My point is, that such people are the ones who make this "wave of shutdowns" as you call it. Once the wave goes on even those who don't abuse the system to that extent lose out. Similar to any good going signup bonus or churning option.

All I can say is "prove it". 10% return rate is pretty low, but Amazon isn't completely stupid.
The customer can be getting amazon to give price adjustments, returns expensive products used and damaged,
constantly complains for credits, and etc. The customer can be far more unprofitable than a customer who buys 10 items at a time and returns 7 of them (where all Amazon loses is marginal shipping and return shipping costs).

All I've seen is abusers get shut down. What I'm waiting for is a bunch (or even a few) of customers who've never abused Amazon get shutdown for seemingly nothing. When that happens we can start posting doomsday warnings.

At the end of the day after all the complaints of Lazerships tardiness, my item that I order yesterday is not going across america to get to me, instead it is going from the warehouse it is in, in NJ, to me in NJ, and within a few hours of it leaving the warehouse it was out for delivery.

It used to be that when you'd order something it'll go to the middle of America and back. Its nice to have things shipped faster when they are in the same state as you.

if you have something in your cart, and the price increases, is it tough luck, or is there any way you can get them to honor previous price?

It seems that there are a lot more things are add-ons now.
Anyone else getting this impression?

Not worth your time I think.. If you do try and succeed please report back. I wonder if it's a strict policy (per chat below) or depends on CSR mood.

This is a partial copy of my recent chat for 3 items that had a big increase. They would not honor the lower price from a day before.

Amazon Rep: I'm sure it's disappointing to see an increase in the price of the item you were planning to purchase. Our prices regularly change (we constantly receive new data from our suppliers) and the price you saw was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time.

Then I asked about price matching as seen for lower price on ebay

Amazon Rep: I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.
With the exception of TVs and cell phones with service, Amazon.com doesn't offer a price match guarantee. We do consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.
Because the marketplace is constantly changing and we strive to offer the lowest price, you'll see some fluctuations in our prices over time.

I generally fine Amazon's chat reps to be useless, regardless of what the issue is. Phone reps seem to be much more understanding. They may not price match but you may got some other form of compensation.

I've had reps give a promotional credit based on the difference.

Good to know! I rarely use the phone these days especially if there's the chat/email option.. Thanks!
