Currently at the Hilton Labriz… a few thoughts in case you’re considering…
1. No diamond upgrade (prob Bec full at the moment).. no diamond recognition on arrival either, had to ask for some coupon booklet..
2. Extremely slow internet (50kb/s) so get a sim if you need to do anything.
3. Actual beach is gorgeous and empty, in same category as Maldives (but wavy this time of year).
4. Surprised by some of the unkempt grounds… I guess it’s a Hilton and not a Waldorf, but still could do a better job on some of this.
5. Heating up my kosher food wasn’t easy. At first they didn’t want to Bec of Covid, but I pushed it through.. may have helped being diamond?! Dunno.
6. Def. take a helicopter over boat to get here… was one of the nicest things I’ve ever done… price is about 600 euro vs boat 140 per person not even a question.. they pick you up from airport for 5 minute ride to their station… and you land right in the hotel. If continuing to another island later (Praslin) might be worth taking helicopter again to avoid going through Mahe, but it’s very pricey (1200 Euro)
7. Heading to a different island to check out (Praslin) will update
8. Not much to do in terms of activities. We came to relax! If you’re very active think twice about this resort. It’s the only resort (or for that matter exhistance) on this island… no motor sports that I noticed. Went to activity center said nothing today or tomorrow. For us that’s fine, for you might not be..
9. It’s an all villa hotel. Villas vary. Personally saw many small and crowded ones which would not have enjoyed at all. We wanted privacy and something a little bigger so we took the sanctuary pool villa (garden image below) Only one category higher is the beachfront deluxe pool villa, but we opted for this instead.
