On that note, never exclusively breast feed a kid. give em a bottle from day one.

Yeah, definitely dumb.

What does the fact that mothers and babies are different have to do with it? The idea is a general one: If a parents want to have the option of using a bottle, for whatever reason. If the baby is used to the idea it works. Otherwise, often it will be a struggle to get em to take it.

[Disclaimer:
There are women who are are fanatically passionate about exclusively nursing. My advice is not to interfere if that is the situation. Dont even make the suggestion. -If thats what @epretzel means then I +1 it too]

It all depends on what the mothers priority is. If her priority is to breastfeed (which would seem to be the case for the fact that she is trying to breastfeed  ::)) she should probably wait until the baby is entirely comfortable with BF before trying a bottle (between 2-4 weeks IMO). This ensures that the baby will BF and gives a higher chance that baby will use bottle as needed. To try bottle earlier is risking the ability to BF altogether (unless the use of bottle is of urgent importance, i.e. a working mom etc.). Mothers and babies being different is a valid point since some babies will latch onto wtvr is in front of them while others won't and you can use your imagination for why there might be differences in mothers nursing abilities.

I never seen so many excuses if my life. The baby won't do this, the baby won't do that. Some things are harder in life than others. Learn to accept it and move on.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Whether you like it it not, society has chosen to differentiate the two.

for some, esp a newborn in the air for 10+ hours, it's life or death....

one is a food/feeding issue for a baby/child vs. a bathroom issue for an adult

You can't just magically get an exclusively breastfed kid to start taking a bottle. Doesn't work like that.

And Rafi would never eat under a cover as an infant.
Yup.
also depends on the child both mine took bottles no problem after being exclusively breastfed as said already all depends on mother and child, but i dont agree about making a stink about and i personally dont agree with doing in total public .if it is a utmost necessity to fly then figure it out that it should be at least semi private, or else dont fly if you cant figure it out, i dont think it is appropriate to bare all just because you are breast feeding.

I guess that really is the issue for someone not willing to get undressed in public. Either the baby will starve or the mother will go to the bathroom and feed the baby there even though it is not as comfortable. :P

Or, fly in the First Class window seat and buy the aisle seat for baby.
Then nobody will see her..

I just joined DDF to let you people know how stupid you sound.   Frum men giving BFing advice?? For the guy that said we should feed our kids in the 2x2 bathroom, I would like to see you eat your dinner in there. Do you know how unsanitary your genius "advice" is?
