Capital One GM Card
« on: February 27, 2014, 04:03:16 PM »
What do you guys think of this card from capital one? 5% cash back on the first 5k you spend and then a flat 2%. I think that it is an awesome option. Most point cards are losing their point value so I am more inclined to go after cards like these now. Plus no annual fee is great. Thoughts?

no one cares about equifax and transunion is only used by Barclay, for the most part.  Let's stop pretending like it's such a big deal

From reading the website, it seemed that this card earns points that can only be used towards purchase of GM vehicle. No statement credit or cashback check.

I am looking into this card as well. I was wondering if it's 1 point per dollar so lets call them and make sure I thought.  At capital one they read me the script from their website they told me that they have no idea and that I should call the GM redemption center. I called the center and they read me the script and said that they don't know and I should talk to a car dealer when I was ready to buy only they could tell me. I pushed a little farther and then she told me that during business hours there is a redemption specialist who may know the answer to my question.

Sorry for being such a noob, what are the points actually worth in the buying power of a car? 1 to 1? 1 to .01?

I think this card is the only world elite mastercard without an annual fee. (so it's the only card with cdw in Israel w/o AF. Am I right?)

A world mastercard is enough, it doesn't have to be elite.

you're right but I think there's no other world card either that doesn't have AF (besides those cards which you can upgrade to world after having it for a while)
