So I got my BCP in December and proceeded to max out 6% grocery spend in December. Bill closed on January 8. All grocery spend since January has been 1%. Contacted Amex to find out why all grocery spend was 1% as all spend on December statement  (that closed Jan 8) was done in December. Amex refuses to budge stating, in writing after a lengthy investigation, that because the bill closed Jan 8 it was all 2015 spend. Cant really argue because its in the T&C that all spend is considered done when the bill closes...which was 2015. Anyone have suggestions?

All i can say is that if I would have requested that the bill close on the last day of the month then that could have made me an additional $360. I guess you live and learn.

I have a bizPlat, everyday preferred, and a  SPG. I want to downgrade from everyday preferred to just everyday. They said if I downgrade, cant get 10k points and have to pay AF. However, not sure if I can cancel current card then re-apply and get accepted because AMEX said that I signed up for too many cards in a short period of time. Any advice? Thanks!

I got the bonus on the preferred. If I downgrade, cant get bonus and have to pay AF pro-rated. If I cancel card, dont know if I can apply for everyday card because I reached max signups within 90 days.

Is there anywhere to see at amex.com how much I've spent in groceries this year, or do I have to add it up myself?

Thanks

It's easier when your grocery purchases average in the thousands :)

My grocery purchases are either 2 digits, or $500+. I do buy food sometimes, which makes the calculations more complicated.

Just ignore those and round off the large purchases.

Though i guess how much time it will take to calculate can be based on how much MS'ing you are doing.
