I was heavily involved in this program - I just disputed over $4000 on one of the credit cards that I used. I have a couple of questions that maybe some fellow forum members can help out with
1) is it dangerous to dispute such a large amount-will I feel reprecussions somewhere down the line in the long run?
2) the cc that i'm referring is my citi advantage card- is citi going to pull the miles from my AA account?
3) is the cc company responsible to refund the money even when the merchant goes bankrupt?
TIA
1. I don't think so, they just might throw the dispute out.
2. They'll probably hold a negative miles balance, to be cancelled out by future spending on the card.
3. That' probably depends on the reason for the dispute, in this case I don't think they're legally required to take the loss, since you actually authorized the purchase (i.e. it wasn't fraud as in your CC number getting stolen).
