Has anyone had experience with a lease takeover? Not a transfer where it switches ownership completely but rather just switch Registration and Insurance with still being in original Lessees name. TIA

I took over someone's lease (found it here) and he just added me to the insurance as a member of the household

Why the need to be added to insurance? If everything is under his name what's to worry? Does he not have insurance? Am I not allowed to drive a friend or relatives vehicle without insurance?
I remember hearing once if I have my own insurance and go into your car and God forbid damage it,I would be covered with my own insurance and wouldn't effect his insurance, same like a rental car?

Technically only on a temporary basis. If one were to be in an accident and the insurance company were to discover that the driver is not on the policy and that he is the sole/primary driver for this car the insurance company can deny the claim.

Its very hard to find a lease takeover for a standard sedan ($200 range). Has anyone had luck elsewhere? Open to suggestions

Depending on how long you want it for and your location, swapalease.com has a pretty decent selection. As does leasetrader.com

I have 2016 Malibu 2.0 with 11,000 miles remaining through 8/18/19 available. Not sure how this works in terms of scratch and dent responsibility, insurance etc. Open to ideas and price.

Does $175 a month sound reasonable?
