Author Topic: New Shidduch Idea (Read 70563 times)

-1. I think it's great that so many people care and try to do something about it. HOWEVER, I do not think that this particular idea seems like a good one, and I think it would be much better to make shidduchim seem less like a meat market rather than more. I also think the initial mandatory skype meeting with a match is a terrible idea... very unnatural setting and likely to end up with lots of one and done's.

Skype with relatives can be awkward. Can't imagine a dating interview like that.

It probably is geared more to older singles that may be too picky to even go out on that one-and-done

What's up with Skype first, sometimes look do seal a deal but often they'll kill it too...
Maybe find out some positive Info, then expose them to to looks

Is there really a shidduch crisis going on? If guys are finding shidduchim, and each guy is marrying a girl then unless there are way more girls, there shouldn't be a crisis. And if there are more girls then the only solution is polygamy. And I don't see that happening any time soon.

I heard in Lakewood they were being matir it because it takes more than one wife to support a family (or just for the additional SS#)

Polygamy sounds great. Now the wives can work just part time because they'll have help supporting their kollel husbands.
