Thankfully most feel like it's money well spent after they find the one.

Not everyone needs to spend that much. People choose to do what they want.

No one has to spend $30k on a wedding.

Im glad to hear of youre low opinion of me, I just dont see why people are spending so much to date, or at least one person did. Take a walk in the park, camp out on barnes and nobles floor, go to the beach and watch the water, go to starbucks i duno

Some people believe that the guy should always pick up the girl by car or by taxi, and public transport is considered a no-go.
A couple of months later when married: "Honey, I'd love to get out with you for the week-end, but can't afford it as you wouldn't date me unless I picked you up by car".

No wedding halls so hotels are essentially the only option. Everything is just more expensive since there's less of a market. Caterer, band, photographer etc. a decent wedding runs 50k at least. Maybe you can do a small one for 30 but it's pushing it.

I don't have a lot of experience with LA so I personally don't know. I know Cali is expensive but this still seems pretty crazy to me. There are no cheaper places to have a wedding? I'm just a bit skeptical that this has more to keeping up a certain standard.

At those prices I'm surprised people don't get married in their backyard. I happen to think it's ideal even without those prices... But that's just me.

exactly my thoughts... better that it should all be affordable and the $ used when married, its the newly married bride that deserves expensive dates not random shiduch ideas..

More than agree, dont see the point of halls, been to many weddings in israel that took place in sprint / summer in a field including machpela...

plus the sunset is much nicer
