777 in 3-4-3 configuration
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:42:45 PM »
I am looking at taking some long-haul flights in Y, total of 26 hours flying time.
One of the options if to fly on a 777 in 3-4-3 configuration (on Etihad specifically).
Other options are a little more expensive.
I had a look at FT and other websites, and people describe the 3-4-3 configuration on a B777 as sheer hell.
I was wondering if this might just be exaggeration - how likely that 1/2 inch less in width and 1 inch less in pitch would make such a big difference?

I would be grateful to hear other people's personal first-hand experiences.

Well thats 9, not 10. And if you are seating in the 2 part, then yes, you either have a window with easy access to aisle, or aisle with only one person who might need to get out.

your right I wasn't paying so much attention but would it be better to have 3-3-3 instead of 2-5-2

Depends if you are seating in the 2 or the 5. If in the 2 I would take that over the 3. But in the 5, I would take the 3-3-3 over that. But if the 2-5-2 is a open flight, the 5 seats would make a good bed.  :P

When you get into the back seat of a car and your knees hit your chest, and you get the guy in front to move up just 1 inch....

Now imagine 26 hours w/o that!

The 1-2-1 layout? Is it similar to lx business? If yes, then yes, I flew on LX.

Sigh... why does every thread on DDF discuss every question other than the one asked by OP?

1-2-1 and  2-1-2

I had the solo seat. I found it to be comfy. Narrow seat and narrow foot swell but deep. Plenty of storage space and space around you. Couldn't complain during my 13hr flight. (Sin-zrh),

Because people are afraid to start a new thread. So once a thread is started, everyone jumps in.  :P
