No. Just advocating that you take responsibility for your own choices for better or for worse, and not blame EVERYTHING on society. If I will do something inappropriate on the internet, I should hope I will own up to it and not fault society for not enforcing capital punishment and/or Big Brother surveillance to prevent internet usage.

I am talking about constructive kosher book's. I blame my father the most, I dont need to take any blame for myself, ive been to places you never want to be, this is a public forum not a frikking confessional.. my olam habah is my concern... i'm saying that there could be more productive stuff out there.

I am not putting blame on any thing or any one save my father and myself which is my fault, I was suggesting... and its human nature the way G-d created us, being that human's are all different I imagine you do not understand.. but if youve read hundreds or more books as I do and you run the gamut of kosher books, you go elsewhere.

Now, I was addressing the post that said to learn torah, I was saying that maybe with the right kosher books I would not have looked elsewhere... i'm not blaming any thing.

Yeah because YOURE father didnt get on youre case for reading Grisham saying "Why are you reading this garbage, go pick up a sefer" and that was the crux of my teenage years. I dont believe this is a group therapy meeting but im trying to explain my attitude.

But now my perspective is of 2 ways, on the one hand I personally would love to read more, its only when I look at what is available in jewish works that sets me steaming.. there was some nice historical fiction in mishpacha.. but I wish we had real historical non fiction to read.

#2 I feel that there must be many others that felt as I did when growing up.

Im not here to say al chait, I dont hide any thing I do.. my book shelf in israel has more seforim than non jewish books

But yes, I have learned 1% of the torah I should have, aww well

Yes. I'm very thankful for that. Though I can't say he was thrilled that I was reading Grisham, he was smart enough to realize that nothing constructive would come out of giving me hell for it.

And BTW, it bothers me too that after you read Grisham etc. it's almost impossible to read the jewish stuff. It totally pales in comparison. (Though in all honesty, not every Grisham's a winner either. Take The Summons for example. One of the stupidest books I've ever read. But A Time To Kill on the other hand, or The Partner, those just can't be beat!)

Very wise words my friend. Not every work of fiction was useless though. I love steinbeck's moral arguments.. especially in mice and men, the winter of our discontent, the moon is down and the grapes of wrath

Every Man a Slave by Sender Zeyv is a good historical fiction book, but he's also a little interesting

Every man a slave was wow... like someone packaged every piece of history and wild events in one book, it reads more like a run down history book in a kevin costner like movie, no one even in a fictitious book has that many things happen.. I wanted it to be good but found myself skipping most.
