its a problem that the percentage of worthwhile jewish books on the market is MAYBE 10%.
For every "aleph-shin" and "every man a slave", there are 9 other books that need serious medical attention.

With that said, if one is looking for books that contain next to no graphic violence and sexual material, look no further that Artemis Fowl and Ranger's Apprentice. I find that SOME young adult books are written way better than grown-up stuff. Also, the objectionable material in nigh non-existent.

I agree but even every man a slave was weird, its not a realistic work of historical fiction, the style of writing was not to my liking, I did not like how he paints the events and dialogues

I think it was these true books that paved the way for the spy trash taht flooded the jewis world later.  Mossad books were poppular in yeshiva and accepted, also Shea Hecht's book

Man, lets not start with the jewish books I discovered as a kid, Gershon Winkler.. do people still read him? he is responsible for all the nightmares of my childhood.. and this book called "outlaw"

My nephew (8 keh) was reading the new Strasbourg or wtvr books, mostly the fur traders and later.

So I told him I did not like those and that I enjoyed the earlier ruach ami series.

I looked it up online and I see that they actually refreshed the series by republishing the original books and doubling the length.

I absolutely detest drawn and dragged out books, 200 pages of finger licking great vs 400 pages of stuff that just drags out..

The Audio Books are AMAZING. I has my children SILENT for multiple milti-hour trips.
Four hour and eight hour car trips. SILENT!! (Each book is roughly 8 hrs, so that was great)

My perspective about this topic has been challenged after the MBC tiktok craze. The amount of people commenting about the talent levels of the singing, music, and choreography is astounding. And judging it objectively, it is really well-done, whether or not it fits your personal taste.

Didn't see OP until now but the title included entertainment which includes music, hence my comment. Would also add that concert performances are a different form of entertainment that is often done well.

But regardless my point stands - I think many don't appreciate Jewish music. Even those that enjoy may feel it's good but not good enough. Also, it's likely there are other forms of Jewish entertainment that is underrated.

Jewish entertainment is a fairly new concept. Even older Jewish novels, like authors Marcus Lehman and Gershon Kranzler wrote, were to teach values and Jewish history. I do believe that the literature written by Baalei Teshuvah has greatly upgraded our reading material.

I would also point out that there is a HUGE amount of poorly written stuff in the non-jewish world as well. I love reading, and some of the stuff out there is just painful.
