SPG Platinum Questions

I am going on Vacation and a friend of mine may come with me.

My friend has platinum status and I have gold status- I used points out of my account to book the reservation.

Is there anyway to add his platinum status the reservation with the understanding that there is a possibility he may not come?

no the only way to get an upgrade is thru points or booking thru his account not even his wifes.

BUT!!! if it is your wifes account i know it doesnt help you just for other readers,
you may transfer the points from your wifes account to your account as long as you reside at the same address.
Then you may book it from your account as a Platinum member.

i have an upcoming 5 night stay an spg property. would anyone who needs to retain status or is just a kind soul be able to book a points stay out of their platinum account for me and i would transfer points to one of your airline accounts or we can work something else out?
