Rabeinu Yonah on the Rif says that kaparah of a karban comes from the person's feelings of teshuvah. When a person knows he sinned, he naturally feels regret. But when a person doesn't even know if he sinned, well, then we need to make him feel it. How do you make him feel it? Jack up the price!

2nd Seder: Gittin, Eved Shenishba.
Night Seder: Kesubos, currently in the 4th Perek.
Mussar: Nefesh Hachaim, Shaar Daled.
