I ordered s/th on eBay and paid with PayPal. The item recieved wasn't as described. I can dispute with my cc or with ebay/PayPal. Will it make any difference to the seller how I go about disputing?

NO I would not do that. I canceled a bunch of listings and got my account suspended (my account was new)

You have to call them and tell them why your canceling and then it should be fine.
Did you cancel it after it was sold? I was referring to ending the listings early. To end early there is not problem I have done it probably 100 times and never had a problem.

Definite go thru ebay but I would suggest contacting the seller first to see if they will stand behind it  so that it doesn't get ugly.

Well to be clear, yes I was referring to ending early, but again my account was new at the time and they probably (in fact Im almost certain they do) have a metrics system that keeps track of percentages of listings/ percentage cancelled etc. When I had a new account selling for 2 months and canceled every item I had I couldnt relist when I wanted to.

You probably sell a lot more volume though which is why they dont do anything to you.

So back to the person that asked- It seems like if you are a new seller then cancelling a bunch of listings may affect your account. Either way I was still suspended bc I canceled so its your choice. I dont see the harm in calling up and explaining why you have to cancel a bunch of listings.

can you explain why? I find cc disputes less of a hassle I was just wondering if there is a specific reason to do one over the other

1. Don't abuse your dispute rights if you have an alternate way of getting refunded... the results can be pretty bad in the long run...
2. Ebay and Paypal will flag your account for disputing a charge...
3. Ebay and buyers should know that this seller sends items that are "not as described"...
4. The seller should realize what he did, and if it was an honest mistake, correct it w/o destroying his account, and the seller can fix other listings to have an accurate description...

I am having an issue with a cell phone I purchased. The phone wasn't working, so I arranged with the seller to return it. I mailed them the phone, and received it back in the mail a few weeks later. I contacted the seller about this, and got an answer to the tune of "that's weird!". I contacted them back, and haven't heard from them since. It's been about 3 weeks.

When I try to report it to ebay, I get this message:

This case has been automatically closed by our system. We allow a maximum of 30 days for a case to be opened in our Resolution Center when the seller has responded. If we don't receive notification from either party within that 30 day time frame, our system will close the case automatically, assuming that the issue is taken care of.

What can I do now?

:( I would try calling eBay, they are usually pretty good if you have a decent track record... otherwise hit the CC you used...

In paypal transaction history, it used to show what you netted per transaction after the paypal fee, it no longer shows that. Is there a way to see it?

I had an item for sale on eBay and agreed with buyer to sell directly through Paypal. In the past, I have sent the buyer a detailed invoice, to make the transaction eligible for Paypals guarantee. In this case, the buyer sent the money without any invoice. Is there any reason why I would care to have an invoice, or is it only for his benefit? Additionally, he asked me to mail the item to a different address than the one on his PP account. Being that there is no invoice; is there any risk for me to do that? Thanks!
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I sold a brand new Nokia charging plate, with no returns accepted. The buyer contacted me today that the charger starts charging for about 10 sec. then a while light starts to flash meaning charging failure, (I don't have one so don't exactly know what's supposed to happen) he spoke to Verizon and Nokia and they both said it's a faulty piece. Am I responsible in such a scenario, even though I write no returns? Would eBay side with the buyer? Did anyone have similar experiences, that can help me?
Thank you

Sorry I misread your post I thought you bought an item.
You will probably have to take it back if he opens a claim against you.
You can ask the buyer for a video of what happening just to make sure he isn't pulling your leg.
