Listed an item for sale on eBay and I'm getting a bunch of offers from new buyers with 0 feedback.

What's that supposed to mean?
Probably scammers. I get these all the time, with some sending offers higher than listing price.

What do they gain? I sold it to one and they just never responded, no payment,no shipping question etc.

Why are they doing it?

They probably hope that you'll ship without payment. A few weeks ago I had 2 orders from more sophisticated scammers. They used someones account to buy with a stolen credit card, then tried to intercept the shipment I sent to the buyer, to try to reroute it to them. Thank God a keen eyed Postal inspector noticed that an item was marked as returned to sender but wasn't returning to sender, rather to a third address. She called me to ask about it and saved me $1400(Macbook). Since then I've only shipped with UPS for high value items.
