I sold a used phone around a month ago. The return policy specified was money back within 14 days with a 20% restocking fee, buyer pays shipping. Neither the buyer nor myself left feedback.
Today, I got a message from the buyer saying the phone is defective and stopped working, and he is hoping that I will give him some consideration. I sent a message back asking what the problem was, but he didn't respond yet.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I should proceed? I would just say it's too bad, but I don't want to get bad feedback.
bargin with them that you will take the return if they give good.feedback...then.its in your court (but send that message out of ebay)
If it's broken, I don't want it back.

Unless someone complained to eBay, they'd never know. But it still might not be in accordance with the T&Cs.

Do you think it's risky to do?

Should I just rely on that if someone wants to buy the item from me again outside of Ebay, they'll get my email address from their paypal payment?

There is a risk of an eBay violation.

Just a precaution - when doing a sale outside of eBay you loose some of your seller protection. Although Paypal offers protection, you are more protected via eBay.

I am not discouraging a direct PP sale, I am just forewarning to make sure it looks like a legit buyer ect.

How about if the buyer pays as family/friend? Isn't the seller fully protected?

Is there a way to print a packing slip for an ebay item sold on ebay, without printing an ebay shipping label?

Yes. On the page where you select the options for the shipping label, there's a link to print a packing slip.

but only after you buy the postage from ebay.

I wasn't clear, I meant if you're going to ship and buy postage from the Post Office, can you get a packing slip from Ebay.

Yes, the link is on the page before you click purchase. Look in the middle of the page, above the dropdown for carrier.

Does the fact that this article on Ebay's site suggests sending a business card with your package - with your email address, prove that it is not against Ebay's terms? http://www.ebay.com/gds/Usage-of-Business-Cards-on-eBay-/10000000013320504/g.html

I read Ebay's terms, and I'm not sure it violates them, because you're not sending the email about the item that brought the customer, but a future item.

If you send a business card in the package eBay won't know about it.
