Maybe China knows exactly where this plane was taken to and are not releasing that info to give themselves better negotiating terms

WSJ now quotes Malaysian police chief saying that one of the passengers using stolen passport was Iranian.

UK daily mail
The United States extensively reviewed imagery taken by American spy satellites for evidence of a mid-air explosion, but saw none, a U.S. government source said. The source described U.S. satellite coverage of the region as thorough.

The tickets were purchased by a person in Iran. And now i can also say, that one of then passengers was a young iranian according to multiple sources.

Also, I read that they are possibly starting some ground searches taking the search to land in addition to the water.

At this point even I am starting to get more freaked about this situation.

Dan - Powerful writeup. Thanks.

maybe i watched to many movies, but cant the governments gets images of places second by second from satellites?

That's if you know where to look at, the army didn't detect any explosions and finding a particular moving airplane over the ocean is like finding a jumping needle in a moving haystack

what you said military radar shows it went way of course

Quote
Malaysia's military believes it tracked a missing jetliner by radar over the Strait of Malacca, far from where it last made contact with civilian air traffic control off the country's east coast, a military source told Reuters.

In one of the most baffling mysteries in recent aviation history, a massive search operation for the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER, now in its fourth day, has so far found no trace of the aircraft or the 239 passengers and crew.

"It changed course after Kota Bharu and took a lower altitude. It made it into the Malacca Strait," the military official, who has been briefed on investigations, told Reuters.

The Strait of Malacca, one of the world's busiest shipping channels, runs along Malaysia's west coast. The airline said on Saturday that radio and radar contact with Flight MH370 was lost off the east coast Malaysian town of Kota Bharu.

Well, if they do have second by second frames, I don't see why they would need an explosion to track it, they just start at takeoff and follow the aircraft.
