Jewish people are like family, so imagine being told your cousin survived that tragedy as he missed his flight. I'm sure you would be happy.
Are we sad others died, yes. Every day people die, but they don't always concern us.
When this happens in conjunction with a good deed, it's even more joyful.
I see nothing wrong with rejoicing in what happened to this individual. You should also be aware how this affects others of this tragedy. Saying “I don’t care” is hard for me to understand.

If anyone ever seen the movie “Armageddon” there is a scene at the end where everyone is rejoicing for the earth being saved. Then they pan to a girl crying because it was her father that gave his life for that to happen. As AJK has said over and over try and put yourself in her shoes.

You can rejoice in what you see as another validation of your religion but you can also be respectful of others at the same time.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

If I sent the same emails to Dan but it was about a Catholic that missed the flight because of his religious beliefs do you think it would have been posted to the main site?
Thousands of Dan's readers don't desecrate the Shabbos. He posted a story of someone who didn't desecrate the Shabbos (which is an obligation only for Jews) and his life was saved.

Does this prove there's a G-d? No.
Does this prove that the Jewish way is correct? No.

It's just a beautiful story for the thousands of readers who love the Shabbos, and believe that the Shabbos protects us.

There is a song that Jews sing on Shabbos, that says "If I keep/guard the shabbos, G-d will guard me".

I believe the silent majority shares these sentiments, don't be thrown off by the few loudmouths...

Who is saying I don't care?

Daily way more people are dying in Syria.
Do you really feel bad?
Or only while seeing some pictures?

Well said. But then again, saying that one should put themselves in another's shoes (despite actually being a tenet of Judaism) is something around here that will ironically get you slapped with a "close-minded" badge.

And then the other half, which you won't have an opinion of, is people calling out a Rabbi as as denying the existence of Gd because he disagrees with their particular viewpoint. It's really colored my view, unfortunately.

For those who have been following, but not voicing anything, 1) silence is complicity, and 2) why not?

DDF isn't telegrams... they don't charge to post.

Then perhaps you can give Baruch his monthly fee back? He doesn't find this entertaining at all... despite being religious about clicking "refresh" on this thread.

There's a limit to how many +1s people want to post. Most people feel that if they don't have anything constructive to add to what others are doing a fine job explaining then why should they?

Then perhaps you can give Baruch his monthly fee back? He doesn't find this entertaining at all... despite being religious about clicking "refresh" on this thread.
Give him a break, it was towards the end of a long fast :P

@AJK, how do you manage to have so many posts on a topic and add so little insight?
