You would think we could at least agree 1+1=2
Which 1 + which 1?
You seem to be a smart guy, and I mean no offense. But here's the way I see it.
In my world, there is only one G-d and that automatically denies the possibility of any other. My G-d has given clear instructions on how to serve Him, and promises to reward those who serve Him. If somebody serves another god, and is saved from a tragedy I can't say that he was saved by the god he was serving, because I know that that god doesn't exist. So I know that it was my G-d who saved him. But there I can perceive no clear reason for him being saved (as this is not a case of it being a reward or payment for the service of G-d)* other than the mercy of G-d.
Is this then that illogical?
*of course, he may have merited being saved for doing a good deed, by which he was in essence serving G-d. Then it would be a case of reward/payment.
