Looking for a lawyer to advocate to the IRS.  Friend hasn't filed taxes for a few years. The late filing charges and such are tremendous.
There are advertisements around for tax people that help you pay "pennies on the dollar".  Are there any reputable people that can help?
Looking for this as well. @ckmk47 let me know if you find someone good

I opened my car door and someone hit my door as I opened it. Who’s at fault?

I’m parked on the road close to the curb. I did not look to see if cars were coming. The fact that a car was driving so close to me to hit me if I opened it is my question.
This same exact story happened to me just the roles were reversed I pulled into a spot in Lowe's and an older non Jewish woman driving a Mercedes opened the door on me I called my father she called her husband and they settled for me paying 200 bucks without police involvement

I'm not a lawyer.
The way I understand it, the door opener is responsible.
Years ago, when one took the driving test, the person had to get into the car from the passenger side and slide over, so as not to open the door into traffic.

Interesting since generally the parked car/ person who opened their car door is at fault
Don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers

These days one needs to be extra vigilant when opening a door especially in cities like NY with lots of bikers mopeds and scooters.

It's also the same if you "door" a cyclist the driver is responsible.
Grey area when you door a non legal moped or scooter.

Reminds me of a question my driving teacher asked me, you're driving down the street and notice a parked vehicle to your right opening his door what do you do? And his answer was you continue driving and (potentially) knock down the door.

He explained that by trying to avoid hitting the door you might hit opposite traffic and get into an accident, police will show up and you will start explaining that once upon a time there was a car on your right that opened the door and you wanted to avoid it, but that car is long gone, and you're fully at fault for the accident you caused.

I was behind a biker who was driving on the sidewalk and the door opened. Insurance paid 50% for a new bike because it was illegal to drive on the sidewalk IINM

Any legal case to be made for someone getting hit by a wild errant pitch(70mph fastball) in the batting cages in the state of PA?  It struck them in the face/head area but helmet apparently prevented any significant injury.  So not any real physical injury but ordeal was traumatic and frightening etc..

if you have any idea of lawyers who would want to explore further  etc..

Rephrase the question: is there a reason to spend hundreds (thousands?) of dollars to hire a lawyer to help someone write a halachic will when they're young?

Good thread idea btw...

Do you have a will? A Halachic will? When did you write one? Any tips, recommendations, regrets, etc.

Reminds me of the old joke:

"I got a new hearing aid. For a joke, I told my family that I can't hear anything because I'm waiting for the battery to arrive. I changed my will three times this week."

Got a ticket on my parked car for expired inspection. Any chance they waive the ticket if I go to court after getting it inspected?

You can try a mail in.  Inspect immediately. send proof of inspection.
I think lapsed registration works.  I don't know about inspection.

i was talking w my landlord the other day and he mentioned that hypothetically if he sells the home in which I live, i have to vacate, and I dont have till the end of the contract/lease. I was thrown off and said I believe that I would become the tenant of the new owner till the lease was up. and he said, no, he made sure to put it in the contract that he can sell at anytime and i have to go...I said Ok and then after the converstaion went and pulled up the contract and this is what i found

"Selling the contract:
5. The landlord reserves the right to sell or give over the condominium or the contract to
another party without the tenant’s consent, provided that this contract is not terminated.
6. The tenant may not give/sell the condominium to another party and will be responsible for
paying rent even if he leaves the condominium before the end of the contract."

from my basic understanding of the english language, my landlord is 100% wrong...it specifically says - "provided that this contract is not terminated" which means I can just continue renting from the new landlord until the lease is up...

any input from a lawyer would be appreciated. thanks
