"lester" has nothing to do with "Esther"??
It's short for Lesterovitch...

I watched it with my 3 & 5 year olds and they were slightly confused but understood it wasn't supposed to be the actual Purim story

Was pretty cute

I heard from a reliable source that after the roshei yeshivos signed it people came asking them what's the problem with it and etc. So r yisroel neumans wife watched it and she said it's not any worse than the oorah shmorg, and so they wanted to take back their letter or at least switch it to just bnei hayesiva but it was too late cuz the letter went all around already.

Who cares what she said. She's not a rosh yeshiva.

Your 3 year old gets the difference? And still knows to consider the actual purim story fact and this made up?

My brother likes it, it's supposed to be cute.
But why the need to make it similar to Purim.
What's really weird is that in the behind the scenes they're busy explaining that different things and scenes are the way they are because of various different midrashim on the Megila. But then they say that is fictional and made up. Why the need for the Midrashic explanations of it's clearly not the story of Purim ???

It's weird. He's busy showing us how the tiles are based on a medrash, when the whole story is made up.

It doesn't surprise me that people here aren't confused by the story line, on the contrary as adults I sure hope you don't think that is the meggilah, however the issue here is the intended audience i.e. children getting confused. Even if they are warned that this is not the meggilah it still can confuse children. Putting a disclaimer does not absolve them from being prudent.

I can imagine kids saying that they like the "remake" better than the "original"

I feel this way about all torah based media, not specific to this project.

The issue is not necessarily the children will be confused, rather that they will look at the story of megila like another fairytale c'v.

Bottom line: People who produce Jewish children's entertainment must first and foremost be extremely G-d-fearing Jews, v'aderaba, they should be on the far end of the yiras shomayim spectrum.

K'yadua the sippur of the chosid who told his rebbe (The Tzemach Tzedek from Lubavitch), "Rebbe, I am afraid (hob ich moireh) to become a melamed," to which his rebbe responded, "And who exactly should be a melamed? Then one who is not afraid?!"

Yiras shamayim first... entertainment second. There is a certain sensitivity that cannot be taught. Either one has cultivated it through years of care or one has not.

Do you know anything about the producer of this movie?  He happens to be an extremely frum Chosid who sunk 300k of his own money into it for the sake of good, clean, Jewish media.

Who cares what she said. She's not a rosh yeshiva.
She is R' Shneur's daughter and she probably knows more than most Roshei yeshiva what's appropriate and what's not

I think the main issue here is that children, at such an impressionable young age, find it much more difficult than adults to distinguish between fantasy and reality.
Yes, it is a worthwhile and praiseworthy effort to try to provide Jewish kids with good, clean entertainment (G-d knows how bad the Disney and Pixar movies have gotten lately). However, if it means that our children come away with a misconstrued idea of how the Purim story happened, or even worse, come away thinking that the Purim story is just as much a fiction as a Disney story, then that's a huge problem.

That's a lot of money. I hope he makes it back.

I've heard tell that Shaar Press was invented to publish Berel Wein's Triumph of Survival so that in case it was banned, it wouldn't drag Artscroll down with it. Frum publishing is a risky business.

Why do they have to watch the new ones? And FTR I found nothing wrong with Frozen, on the contrary the main concept is better than the usual "Happily ever after" Disney movies

I think you guys should get a life. it's OK for your kids to watch Sesame Street or Jake and the Pirates, but not a fictional Jewish Story?

Yes  The same reason it's better to follow sports than politics (HT: R' Chaim Epstein)
