Megilas lester
« on: March 13, 2014, 01:00:25 PM »
Has anyone seen it? I've heard a plethora of comments everything from its amazing to its a misconstrued version of Tanach. Looking to find some clarity.

This forum is not where I'd go to find clarity :)
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

np - I'm also curious to hear what ppl will say. I'm just saying that I wouldn't base my decision on an online forum, that's all.

There was a sign hanging on the door to BMG signed by the roshei yeshiva, basically saying that it's making a bizayon of the  megillah and you shouldn't let your kids watch it. Also that it will make them confused about the actual story, and make them look at the megillah like a movie.

The question is, did any of the signors actually see it?

Doesn't make a difference. They often sign stuff/ban stuff without seeing it.

I heard from a reliable source that after the roshei yeshivos signed it people came asking them what's the problem with it and etc. So r yisroel neumans wife watched it and she said it's not any worse than the oorah shmorg, and so they wanted to take back their letter or at least switch it to just bnei hayesiva but it was too late cuz the letter went all around already.

You mean they signed it before they watched it ?

Its a disgrace. Im shocked that artscroll would do this (NOT!)

Why make leitzonus out of megilas esther?
How can you justify this?
Why teach kids that megilas esther is just a movie/fairy tale with multiple versions?

What needs to be watched, its an video that is a spoof on the story of the megila that can be confusing. Thats more than enough info.

There are already so many Purim books, tapes etc.
There are Pesach Haggadahs with cartoons that I've seen in very Rebbe-she people's houses. This is no different.

In fact it's a masterpiece and we probably need more Jewish media like it - or kids will have no alternatives to Dreamworks, Pixar, etc.

It is totally different. If they made a movie of the story of the megila based on medroshim that would be fine.
They spoofed the whole thing. Unprecedented mockery of tanach.
