We can't judge ourselves. We can only try our best to do the right thing, and hope that if we don't succeed that it's not for lack of trying. We can also be comforted by the fact that Hashem knows if something was truly out of our control and if we shouldn't / can't be judged for it.

True, just as you shouldn't be too lenient on yourself you should also not be too harsh on yourself.

We also believe that if Hashem lets Beis Din do something to a person, it's because He wants it to happen. No? There are many possible "explanations", and there are also times when a person can't be punished by Beis Din because of lack of witnesses etc.

We don't have to worry about these things; there's Someone else in charge...
