Author Topic: Getting Free Credit Report / Score - Identity Monitor Substitutes (Read 44446 times)

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good programs to sign up for to get free credit report / score.

Yes I am aware that everyone can get a free report from each bureau each year by going to www.annualcreditreport.com, but this isnt what I want.

What I am referring to is something similar to Citi Identity Monitor www.identitymonitor.citi.com which I have signed up for approximately 20 times and gotten my free scores and credit report each time from all 3 bureaus and then just cancel before the month is over and then rince and repeat the next month. Citi now charges a dollar for the first month which is still possible worth it for a month of their service and your reports and scores, but free is still better than a buck!!

Anyone know of any other good ones similar that allows you to sign up and then cancel within the month to avoid getting charged?

Bump. Any credit monitoring (all three bureaus) with FAKO and alerts for $5 a month or less? I need something where I can see the actual report, not just summaries (i.e. who my hard pulls are from).

It cost $1, for $4 more a month I prefer to have something that doesn't require a monthly call. One less thing to remember each month.

+1 I have done it twice and have been happy, but how much longer till they realize i'm "churning" this deal? And their score is FAKO, but is it at least somewhat accurate and similar to FICO? (some of these free ones are wayyy off IME)

For me it's more about convenience.

The 'way-off' scores you're referring to are probably like VantageScore, not even intended to be a FICO simulation.

Does anyone have suggestions as to when the best time to use the once every 12 month free report from annualcreditreport.com. I have been opening new cards recently and would love to see my full report to gauge where the hard pulls have been coming from, but I don't know if it is worth doing right now.

How good is the citi identity monitoring for $1? Even if its not a true FICO, does it give you the list of the hard pulls and what agency (TU, EX, EQ) made the pull?

They're a simulation, I guess it depends on how similar their algorithm is to FICO.

Check and see. FICO has changed quite a few times recently (maybe it always changes often), I'm not sure whether they (can?) keep up.
