*A Grandfathered on UA

So thankfully, I was grandfathered into UA's star alliance (I have TK gold) gold baggage policy. However, in the past, people recommended switching the frequent flier accounts after check-in. However, I am worried now if I change the FF accounts to my united one (with no status) will I lose the baggage fee waiver for the way home when I switch it back to the TK gold?

He is grandfather in.. They stopped allowing people to join *Alliance a long time ago. You didn't hear

Likely his tk status expired between booking and travel date.

When they changed the baggage rules they allowed all bookings prior to a date to keep the old baggage policy. However, I can't seem to find if it's all bookings prior to the date or if it's reservations already in place therefore not allowing me to change the reservation with my United number.
