Suggestion: Have someone else have the password (or half and half with a spouse) and do the following:
Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.
(May not be enough for teenagers - consult your own advisers - this solution sure beats doing nothing and there is no excuse)

I'm looking for a filter for my phone. I went to TAG, but didn't like the options they offered. I don't want a lock pattern to unlock my phone nor do I want a constant notification from the filter.

I was happy with Qustodio but they say that it won't work with the Note 4.

What is a good, recommended filter to use on the Note 4?

If you use applock for the play store and settings, and disable third party app installation, how can they access anything else?

Is there any way to block all internet access from a device ($10 Moto E, Android 5.1) without root?

I'd like to easily re-enable it temporarily when I need to install apps for the kids etc.

If you use an applock and restrict access to the settings, and turn off wifi and data, any user will have no way of turning on the data or wifi,effectively rendering the phone Internet free. (What age are you trying to restrict?)

So I installed an applock on a friends ($10) Moto E and while testing it, I noticed that if you tap the recent apps button there's a google search bar above the "cards". So I tapped on it thinking it would be blocked since the google app (including google now and voice search) is blocked. Unfortunately that does not seem to be the case as the applock screen pops up for a moment and then a fully functioning google search app pops up above it. I believe the issue may be in the way google now works. When you have an app open and then you open another app (eg. from the notification shade), it moves the currently open app aside and takes over the screen. The applock detects that and pops up a lock screen. The Google now app on the other hand, seems to pop up on top of the currently open app instead of "moving it aside". I may be overthinking this but maybe that's why it's not blocking google now. Regardless of the cause, this bug needs to be worked out as it allows the user to access the full google search experience including images etc.

Any ideas/fixes?
