Suggestion: Have someone else have the password (or half and half with a spouse) and do the following:
Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.
(May not be enough for teenagers - consult your own advisers - this solution sure beats doing nothing and there is no excuse)

Here's what I don't understand. Why don't livigent netspark etc.  just set up a website that is a kind of portal or proxy allowing access to all approved websites through their website. Then you would have the ability to whitelist their website on your iphone etc. and restrict all other websites. wouldn't that solve many of the issues such as battery life etc. that users have when installing these filters directly onto their phones? I'm not very tech savvy so maybe there is something I'm missing here...
not possible.

For Windows Phones, like Nokia Lumia etc. I found this app, it seems ok, maybe great - https://www.safekiddo.com/en-US

Anyone here used it? You can get a free version or it is $20 a year for 2 phones, more plans available.

The way it works with Windows Phone is that it has you set up as an "employee" using Windows Workplace, which allows your workplace to set up your phone and restrict apps. You can block all internet browsers, block apps, and you can filter etc. You can also block Cortana.

Please share with us if you have more info. I spent many hours and could not find anything else that can block internet on this phone.

Thanks!

It seems like K9 is interfering with CrashPlan and preventing it from backing up. Anyone else have experience with this? The funny thing is that I only have this problem on one computer.

Thanks
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Whats the difference between Webchaver and covenant eyes? Doesn't webchaver use covenant eyes for their filter? Why is webchaver so much cheaper?

Right, I figured that out. The CE browser is not great but it definitely doesn't seem as bad as some of the reviews.

I read through most of the comments on this thread!

I need a filter for my laptop at home. I don't need time management, individual settings, etc., only a filter for content and sites. I use it for  regular browsing, online shopping, some researching, some news - occasionally.  No movies, not much social media.

What is recommended?  The ones I'm considering are:  Meshimer, Livigent (TAG), Netspark, Net Nanny, Qustodio. I would like a paying filter. Some of my kids can figure things out, so I need something good.

Thank you

Locks are not made for thieves. There will always be holes in filters, I have k9 which just like any other filter can be uninstalled with some tech knowledge and google skills.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I have spoken to an IT recently about removing K9. He told me that it's no longer possible to remove K9 easily. In fact he wasn't able to remove it on his own either.

How recently did that change? The last time I did it it took me a few minutes to remove all traces of it

I thought the other ones are better than K9, which is why I wasn't considering it. Is it a very good option?

Thanks again.

I don't know if this helps, but some carriers could block text and web for you.
