Suggestion: Have someone else have the password (or half and half with a spouse) and do the following:
Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.
(May not be enough for teenagers - consult your own advisers - this solution sure beats doing nothing and there is no excuse)

In order for net nanny to be effective is it necessary to block access to the phones settings to prevent uninstalling?

Cant have the settings blocked, way to much of a pain. Whats smart app protector do, prevent uninstallation?

You can install alternate settings like quick settings or something else.

SAP prevents uninstalling, locks apps that need to be blocked, prevents apps from being sideloaded and more.

Just found something very annoying about K9.  It kills websocket connections.

Try doing this, for example:

or:
http://websocketstest.com

Supervisor mode doesn't help.

I use smart app protector along with k9, lock internet, app store, and settings. i found it to work best

The residence of Kiryas Tosh, a shtetel of aprox. 400 families north of Montreal, have been suffering from severe sewage blockages and backup problems for over a month. After extensive work, a company found the root cause of the problem: A laptop. Someone decided to fulfill the mitzva of U'biarto Hora m'kirbecha with extreme hiddur by tossing his laptop into a street drain without wasting the time to close the laptop's cover. We can at least appreciate the spirit of his actions.... :D

I had K9 for years, but just figured out that it's been causing me major issues with my internet connection. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but it didn't help. Any suggestions how to fix this or another good free filter?

do you have conflicting antivirus software?
IE. McAfee, (or avast if not set to exclude k9)
