Suggestion: Have someone else have the password (or half and half with a spouse) and do the following:
Lock installing apps + remove browser + add apps you need (possible rules: no games, no sports, no entertainment, etc.).
[Occasionally an app will have a built in browser/or need to access a certain website - just go back in to settings (with password) and add that website].
There is time restrictions and more features too.

K9 hasn't updated their browser in ages.

I have a nexus 4 with and android 4.4.2 I want to put on it a app to block certain apps from downloading from Google play

I don't think you can do that. You can block Google play entirely, but i dont think you can block only certain apps.

Go to >> Google Play >> settings >> content filtering, and you'll be able to put restrictions with a password.

But you'll have to block the phones 'settings' from where you can clear all of Google play's data including those restrictions..

CMIIW, but I think he wanted to block a specific app from being downloaded, let's say for example Angry Birds. I don't think there's any way to do that. Your method just filters general levels of maturity.

I need some advice.

I'm looking for solid accountability on my Andriod, I would like to use WebChaver which monitors the stock browser, and some type of App Lock (have a friend set the password) to lock Google Play (so I can't download another browser like Chrome, which WebChaver doesn't support). The problem is the Smart App Protector can be easily closed (Application Manager > Force Stop) and then my accountability is lost.

There is an option to add the Settings (of the phone) to the locked list of Smart App Protector but that is too much, I can't call a friend each time I want to switch Wi-Fi networks or lower the brightness of the screen..

Anyone know of a App Lock which cannot be bypassed easily?

PS Called the number above for TAG, they recommended Qustodio but thats too heavy and not what im looking for..

I tried qustodio myself, be sure to enable the block incognito mode,(which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't even chap that your in incognito) as incognito gets around their filter. For some reason that option was not even available for my phone rendering the filter useless.
TAG knows about this issue yet they are still recommending it to people. Unbelievable

What he's saying is that you can download widgets for the settings that you want to be able to control and still block the settings app.

if settings are unblocked you can disable admin mode on the filter and uninstall. Something like that..

If u try to disable the admin mode, you need to put in the password to unlock the filter. So what's the point in blocking settings?

Nothing comes close to Smart App

I know the answer but will not post it on an open forum.
